We love the interesting ways that Melanie Cobham, a Uruguayan Artist and Designer based in Melbourne, works with the tactile nature of film. From salvaging and displaying the precious metals extracted from her photographic process, to letting termites ‘intervein’ with her 35mm negatives...

We knew Melanie had travelled to Tassie, so we thought it'd be cool to see some of her travel photos too.

So, here's 'Five Film Photos' with Melanie Cobham.

Cape Bruny Island Lighthouse
My partner, brother and I took advantage of the unexpectedly low tide to hike down the lighthouse, over the boulders and onto a small, neighbouring island. We felt privileged to be visiting a landscape that felt solemn and untouched, as if we had a secret with the land.

Mount Field National Park
In an attempt to travel light, we left our tripod behind in our Melbourne home. We were able to use the railing around Russell Falls to rest the camera and hold our breath to keep it from moving during this long-exposure photograph. A minor photographic success.

Ice. Tarn Shelf Track, Mount Field
The frosty decked track claimed a few victims on the way up, but we were lucky to witness the tarns in all their glory, under the gentle winter sun.

Overlooking Wineglass Bay, Freycinet National Park
Hiking up Mount Amos with my dad and brother is one of my favourite outdoor memories. It was their first time visiting me in Australia after I had migrated a few years prior, and we got to share what is arguably the most epic view this country has to offer.
