Rough Rice x Keep Tassie Wild - 100% Tassie Fermented Wakame Hot Sauce!
Once again, we’ve joined forces with Tassie taste master Rough Rice to create a limited edition bottle of delicious hot sauce. It’s double the size of our last one (200ml) and packs a bit more heat too!
A Taste of Tassie
All ingredients are grown and sourced locally in lutruwita/Tasmania, including the invasive Wakame Seaweed. And even better, $1 from every bottle will be donated to Starfish Cleanups to help them remove Pacific sea-stars from timtumili minanya/Derwent River.
Why use wakame? Well, for one, it adds a great depth of flavour, improving the complexity of the sauce. But also, it means we’re doing our bit to lessen the impact this sneaky seaweed is having on lutruwita/Tasmania’s waterways!
Wakame (undaria pinnatifida) arrived on the bottom of a boat in the 1980s. Since then, it has spread along Tassie's precious coast, out-completing local seaweed and altering the ecosystem.
Don’t get us wrong. 550 bottles of limited edition 100% Tassie Hot Sauce isn’t gonna solve all the issues, but we’re proud to be part of the 'Eat The Problem' conversation and recognise that changing the way we approach food is one of the multitude of tools needed to reduce the impacts of invasive species!
